Vet emergency for Bern, Biel and Seeland regions

EVC Bern is a veterinary emergency centre dedicated exclusively to veterinary emergencies, intensive care and monitored hospitalisation. We provide emergency veterinary care when your regular vet is no longer available.

Our team is equipped to handle all types of emergencies involving your pet, whether medical or surgical.

We work in close collaboration with your regular vet to ensure continuity of care. Once the emergency has been dealt with, your regular vet remains your main point of contact for your pet’s ongoing medical care.

A top quality emergency vet service

A 360° approach to emergencies

We draw direct inspiration from the human hospital model, with the aim of providing comprehensive and rapid care for your pet.

Committed to quality, precision and rigorous medical care, we use human medical equipment adapted for veterinary practice:

  • Emergency imaging, including ultrasound and digital X-rays, essential for managing complex emergencies and further investigating diagnoses.

  • Intensive care for critically ill patients, supported by a state-of-the-art connected intensive care unit.

  • High-quality monitored hospitalisation facilities, with separate areas for dogs and cats.

  • All the equipment needed to perform resuscitation procedures under the best possible conditions.

A 24/7 emergency service in collaboration with your veterinarian

The EVC emergency service is built on a unique model in Switzerland: two independent yet complementary teams operating within the same clinical facility.

The EVC Bern emergency centre is located on the premises of the veterinary clinic DUOVet.

Together, the DUOVet team and EVC Bern provide their clients and the surrounding region with continuous veterinary care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

  • During regular opening hours, the DUOVet team provides comprehensive care, including general and preventive medicine, emergency care, hospitalisation and specialised services (internal medicine, cardiology, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, endoscopy and dentistry).

  • On weekday nights, and 24 hours a day on weekends and public holidays, EVC Bern provides emergency care, intensive care and monitoring of hospitalised animals, in coordination with the region’s veterinary practices.

Your veterinarian’s extension during out-of-hours care

An emergency can happen at any time, including when your regular vet is closed.

However, we believe that your regular vet is the professional who knows your pet best. That is why we work closely with them at every stage of your pet’s care:

  • We notify and communicate with your regular vet as soon as your pet is admitted.

  • We routinely share the results of examinations and updates on your pet’s condition with them.

  • If your pet needs to be hospitalised, we help coordinate the next steps in their care.

This close collaboration ensures continuity of care, giving your pet access to high-quality emergency treatment while ensuring appropriate follow-up care.

We act as an extension of your regular veterinary practice, providing emergency care outside normal opening hours.
